Second General Meeting of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association	2061/5/26
	The second general meeting of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association has been successfully concluded on 11 September 2004 under the chairmanship of the President of NHSSA Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo and chief guest Dr. Ohm Gurung the General Secretary, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities. The Finance Secretary Mr. Pasang Sherpa and the Organization Secretary Mr. Norbu Ghale of the NEFIN were also present during the opening session. Similarly, the President of NHSSA Kaski District Committee Captain Purna Bahadur Lama Hyolmo and Hyolmo Youth Committee Kaski, Mr. Purna Lama Hyolmo and the Vice President Mr. Buddhi Bahadur Lama Hyolmo of NHSSA Lamjung District Committee were also present during the general meeting. President of Hyolmo Social Service Center Mr. Kesang Lama Hyolmo, Chairman of Hyolmo Foundation Mr. Dawa Lama Hyolmo, Vice Chairperson Hyolmo Kar brGyud gSan sNags bLa Tsogs, Mr. Tsering Lama Hyolmo, General Secretary Hyolmo sNags Tsang Shakya bZangpo gDhun rGyud bLatsogs Mr. Pema Dorje Lama Hyolmo, President of Yangrima Ex. Student Society Mr. Jimmy Lama Hyolmo and the Advisors of NHSSA Mr. Karma Gyaltsen Lama Hyolmo and N.B. Lama Hyolmo were also present during the general meeting.
	Inauguration Session
	The General Meeting was divided into two sessions. In the first session the Vice President of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association Mr. Renjen Lama Hyolmo made welcome speech and laid emphasis on the need of heeding for the development of Hyolmo language, culture and tradition. Earlier the Chief Guest Dr. Ohm Gurung inaugurated the Second General Meeting of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association lighting Chhe-mi. Just after the welcome speech by the Vice President Mr. Rejen Lama, Hyolmo Cultural Group presented a welcome Hyolmo song and the group was headed by group leader Mr. Dawa Lama Hyolmo.
	The Acting General Secretary of NHSSA Mr. Nima Tshring Lama Hyolmo presented the progress report. Presenting the progress report he mentioned that the Hyolmo indigenous people has to support the association in its endeavor to uplift entire aspects of Hyolmo indigenous people. He also emphasis that without the support of Hyolmo people the activities lunched by the association wouldn't be materialize.
	In the opening ceremony, the president of NHSSA Kaski Mr. Purna Bahadur Lama Hyolmo expressed his view and emphasized on the need to activate programs related with culture, language and other aspects of Hyolmo indigenous people in order to familiarize within the Hyolmo community and also to other people. He also shed lights on the activities that the District Committee had carried out in the past and plans for the future. Similarly, the President of Hyolmo Youth District Committee Kaski gave a striking speech regarding the discrimination policies of the state towards indigenous people. He was of the view that the state should take the responsibility for the development of entire aspects of indigenous people. While laying the stress on the need of enhancement of the activities of NHSSA he also requested the association to lunch programs even in districts. He suggested to consolidate the efforts and endeavor of Hyolmo people for the equitable development of Hyolmo indigenous people residing in different areas in Nepal. He also suggested to the NHSSA Central Committee to formulate programs to create awareness and feeling for the Hyolmoness and pursue the unique language, culture and tradition of Hyolmo indigenous people. The Vice President of Hyolmo Kar brGyud gSan sNags bLa Tsogs Mr.Tsering Lama Hyolmo expressed his feeling and need to do something in order to uplift Hyolmo society. Similarly, the Finance and Organization Secretaries Mr. Pasang Sherpa and Norbu Ghale expressed their views and appreciated for the active involvement of NHSSA in different activities that the NEFIN had organized in the past and shown their confidence that the NHSSA would perpetually participate and support in the NEFIN activities.
	The program moved ahead by honoring to those who had contributed to the NHSSA in cash. Dr. Ohm Gurung honored them offering Khada. The persons and association honored for the contribution are Mr. Palsang Lama Hyolmo, the Chairman of Hyolmo sNags Tsang Shakya bZangpo gDhun rGyud bLatsogs, Mr. Prakash Hyolmo and the Hyolmo Social Service Center. On the same occasion certificate and Khada were offered to the participants in the food festival and cultural program organized by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities on the occasion of the final year of Indigenous Decade. Similarly, Khada and Certificate were offered to the life members of NHSSA too.
	Towards the last part of the opening session the General Secretary of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Dr. Ohm Gurung gave an inaugural speech. He shed light on the right of indigenous people and the role of the state. He also criticized reluctance behavior of the government towards the formulation of equitable policies for the enhancement and upliftment of the indigenous people in Nepal. He also pointed out that the indigenous people are treated as second-class citizen by the state declaring Nepal as a Hindu kingdom and introducing discriminatory language and other policies. He also supported the demand of Hyolmo indigenous people in order to change the so-called Melamchi Drinking Water Project as Hyolmo Drinking Water Project. While, supporting the demand of Hyolmo indigenous people he also emphasized on the need to struggle for the achievement of the targeted goal. He also assured that the NEFIN will provide all the support for the equitable demand made by Hyolmo indigenous people.
	Before the concluding of the first session of the general meeting the Acting Treasurer Mrs. Pema Lama Hyolmo made thanking speech. While, in the course of thanking she also expressed her view over the need of consolidating effort of Hyolmo people in order to lunch effective activities of NHSSA. She also opined that without the support of Hyolmo individual and associations, it wouldn't be possible to bring positive changes in the Hyolmo society.
	Finally, speaking from the chair of the opening session, the President of Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo appreciated the views and commitment expressed by Chief guest Dr. Ohm Gurung and other speakers. He strongly emphasized for the need to show positive commitment from the Hyolmo indigenous people in order to lunch activities for the preservation, promotion and enhancement of Hyolmo language, culture, tradition and other aspects of Hyolmo indigenous people. On the occasion, he also assured members of Hyolmo indigenous people that the NHSSA would always remain effortful to work for the betterment of Hyolmo indigenous people and also made his sincere request to all the Hyolmo indigenous people to provide their support in order to materialize the mission and goal set by the association. He extended thanks to all and concluded the session.
	Miss Sangye Omu Lama Hyolmo conducted the opening session.
	Close session
	The President of NHSSA, Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo, also chaired the second session. Immediately, after the starting of close session deliberation over the progress report presented by the Acting General Secretary Mr. Nima Tshring Lama Hyolmo started and after few suggestions and comments as well as question-answer the general meeting passed the progress report.
	The Acting Treasurer, Mrs. Pema Lama Hyolmo presented the financial report 2060/2061. According to the financial report the income and expenditure were Rs. 139,010.00 and Rs. 71,513.00 respectively. Treasurer Mrs. Pema Lama clarified all the questions raised from the floor about the financial statement. After the question answer the general meeting passed the financial report.
	Mr. Nima Tshring Lama Hyolmo the Acting General Secretary of NHSSA presented the plan of programs for the running fiscal year 2061/2062. After having general discussion over the program the future plan of programs is passed by the general meeting.
	Towards the last part of the close session, the president of NHSSA Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo informed the general meeting about the reshuffling of the association and forwarded the names of new Executive Members recommended by the Central Committee of the association in order to be fulfilled the vacant position. He also cleared the reason behind the reshuffling of the Central Excessive Committee, saying that the absent of many Executive Member for a long time had caused constraint on the way to carry out the activities of the association. After some question-answer, the general meeting passed the names of the new Executive Members.
	At last, from the chair the president of NHSSA Mr. Binod Lama thanked all the members of NHSSA and concluded the close session.
